The American League Division Series will feature the Tampa Bay Rays against the Cleveland Guardians.
The announcement gives fans the information they need to plan around the opening round of the League Championship Series race. What are the 2026 NLDS matchups?
The National League Division Series will match the Milwaukee Brewers against the Los Angeles Dodgers. ESPN identified the series as one of the headline matchups in its first-look preview of the 2026 MLB playoffs.
The matchup brings together two teams with strong postseason ambitions and gives the NLDS an immediate focus for baseball fans. The Dodgers enter the series as one of the most closely watched clubs in the playoff field, while the Brewers will try to advance through a short, high-pressure series and reach the next stage of the National League bracket.
The American League Division Series will feature the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians. That matchup completes the division-series picture identified in the ESPN and Yahoo Sports reports. With both series set, the main question for fans has shifted from which teams will play to when each game will begin.
When do the 2026 NLDS games start?
MLB has announced the start times for the 2026 LDS series, according to theScore. Yahoo Sports also published the schedule and start times for the ALDS and NLDS, giving fans a game-by-game reference for the division-series round.
The timing matters because MLB postseason games can occupy different parts of the day. A weekday afternoon start affects work and school plans, while an evening game creates a different viewing window for fans following the Brewers, Dodgers, Rays or Guardians. The release also gives ticket holders and television viewers a clearer picture of how the opening games will fit into their schedules.
Readers looking for the complete list of dates and start times should use the published schedule from Yahoo Sports or theScore, while ESPN’s preview provides additional context on the matchups. The specific game times are not repeated here so the schedule can be checked against the latest listing from those outlets.
How does the NLDS fit into the MLB playoffs?
The NLDS is the National League Division Series, the round in which teams compete for a place in the National League Championship Series. The ALDS serves the same role in the American League. Together, the two division series form the next major stage of the MLB postseason after the opening playoff round.
The division series is a best-of-five matchup: the first team to win three games advances. That format leaves little room for a slow start. One loss can change a team’s pitching plans, while a strong opening game can create immediate pressure on the opponent.
That compressed structure is part of what makes the Brewers-Dodgers and Rays-Guardians series important. Every scheduled game can affect the direction of the matchup, and the announced start times help fans follow the series as the postseason moves forward.
